Enrofloxacin for animals is used once a day as intramuscular injection at the rate of 1 ml per 20 kg of weight. After the course of treatment, a second diagnostic examination is performed. If there is no positive dynamics, it may be recommended to use another drug with antibacterial effect.
Enrofloxacin 10 is used to treat dogs, cats, rabbits and guinea pigs. The dosage of the drug is 1 ml per 10 kg body weight. Duration of treatment is 5 days. If necessary, the course of use of the product can be increased to 10 days.
To avoid painful reactions at intramuscular injection, the drug should be injected in one place in 5 ml for small animals and 10 ml – large.
Enrofloxacin 50 and Enrofloxacin 100 are used for soldering young farm animals, broiler herd, meat turkeys and pigeons. The dose of the drug is 5 ml per 10 liters of liquid. In the treatment of salmonellosis the amount of the drug is doubled.
You should not skip the drug, as it reduces its therapeutic effect. In case of skipping the drug continues to use the scheme without increasing the next dose.
Enrofloxacin Baytril 50 should not be used in conjunction with non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, antibiotics, theophylline.
Contraindications and side effects
According to the instructions for use, Enrofloxacin is not used in veterinary medicine in the following cases:
Allergic reactions to the active substance and other components of the preparation are allergic to Enrofloxacin;
soldering of laying hens due to the accumulation of drugs in the egg;
cartilage growth disorder;
liver diseases in cattle;
diseases of the central nervous system.
The drug is not used to treat puppies under one year and kittens under 8 months.
The use of Enrofloxacin is prohibited during pregnancy and lactation of animals.
Side effects are very rare if the dosage is observed. Some animals may show symptoms such as weakness, refusal to eat, sleepiness, vomiting.
